HARD POP-UP TOP DESIGNED FOR TEAL CAMPER
|
The prototype Teal Camper now has a modular hard top. It comes in sections that plug together to make a continuous roof. Built with similar construction to the side panels, the top is durable, light weight and well insulated. The sections fit together via pin and socket. LED lights are mounted in both end sections with a wiring that is connected as each section is installed to the next. Currently, water-proof removable tape is used to seal the joints. This seems to be working very well but may change in the final design. Screened vent windows in the fabric walls at each end of the pop-up top provide good venting. With the side windows open and the vent windows open, the chimney effect provides good air circulation. To assemble the top, the rear section is put in place and then each adjacent section is added. The roof is then raised and the fabric sides are slipped into slotted channels. The raising mechanism is very simple and easy to operate. The hard top ads extra security as well as insulation. It can be lowered at night when sleeping if desired. Even with the top lowered there is plenty of head room for sitting at the table and moving around.
